Location, Location, Location!
Three of the best-kept secret locations on Oahu for events

Anyone involved in the housing industry will tell you that the three keys to success are
location, location, location.  In keeping with that theme, here are three of the best-kept
secret locations for events on Oahu.

The key criteria around this list is that this is what we deem as secret spots… so while
some locations are stunning – Lanikuhonua, Waikiki Aquarium, and Dillingham Ranch, to
name a few – we felt enough people know about those sites to keep them off this list.
Finally, our selections reflect the writer's ideas and is not a legitimate ranking system.

1.  Hale Treasure Island: North Shore

Our first choice comes from the famous North Shore of Oahu.  Past the rolling pineapple
fields, nestled amongst the crown jewels of famous beaches, including Waimea, Sunset,
Pipeline, and Haleiwa, sits Hale Treasure Island.  At 61-581 Puhaku Loa Way, this
beautiful gated home is one of the most breathtaking locations on-island.  The driveway
in to the property is a small, asphalt road lined with coconut trees, perfect for hanging
Japanese lanterns from.  At the end of the driveway is the main house.  In front of the
main house, overlooking the ocean, is a wide lawn area, large enough to accommodate
200 guests easily.  A 30x70’ tent fits perfectly in this area, with room on either side for
food stations.  A wooden patio completes the key features, great for a cocktail area.  The
view is magnificent, with its nearly 270 degree view of the ocean, possible since the
location is really a peninsula stretching out into the ocean.  The beach to the left is
Laniakea, where green sea turtles make their home.  A fantastic beachfront property,
secluded location, and Hawaiian sealife frolicking just offshore, make this secret property
an amazing choice for an event.

2.  Bayer Estate: Hawaii Kai

Our second choice takes us closer to the heart of Honolulu.  In between the Diamond
Head and Koko Head craters is the historic Bayer Estate.  Built in 1936, this house
features the quaint designs and traditional architecture of yesteryear, with a quiet lawn
perfect for small gatherings.  A long driveway just past the old plumeria tree mark the
entrance of this beautiful home.  Just off of Kalanianaole Highway, first-time visitors may
pass it a few times before realizing where to turn.  Down the long paved driveway is the
Bayer Estate.  Walking through its white wooden front gate and into its front garden is like
stepping into history.  The back of the house includes a nice lawn area, which will fit a
20x30’ tent perfect for 60 people.  To allow for more guests, the Bayer Estate provides a
few tables with 10' market umbrellas for additional seating.  The back patio is great to put
a coffee bar or the food buffet, since it is concrete and covered.  This beachfront property
overlooks the south shore’s calm, sparkling waters and makes for a lovely garden party.

3.  Paul Mitchell Estate: Lanikai

Our final location is none other than one of the most exclusive properties on Oahu.  Way
out in the back of Lanikai, past Kailua Beach Park, sits a lovely little home.  Except this
home is worth over $10 million dollars, rents out for over $4,000 a day, and has hosted
such guests as Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, and
many other celebrities and civilians.  There is simply not enough words to describe all the
features of this fabulous location.  The gated cluster of houses is centralized by a
perfectly manicured central courtyard complete with stunning coconut trees, a beautiful koi
pond, and waterfall/swimming pool.  The main house is usually the location for events.
An intimate lawn, just large enough for about 80 guests under a 30x30' tent, overlooks
three small islands off the coast.  The only thing to say about this location is that it is
quite possibly the most elaborate, amazing, and perfect site that not many have heard
of.  This exclusive location is an incredible place for an event.
